Go Standard If:

  • You have a VHS and its more than 2 hours long or
  • You have 8mm tape or
  • You want to watch them on a big screen TV

Please note: You can still go with economy with a mini dV, or go with Premium with a vHS. These are just our recommendations!

How we've made this so simple:

  • We use electronics that have much more horsepower than needed, and don't get interrupted by other stuff going on the computer.
    1. This requires expensive circuit boards that have direct access to the computer's memory.
  • We convert to one size better than the highest video standard possible for a given video tape type.
  • What this means to you:

    • You get the best video possible from your tapes when we convert them to digital.

    Digital Movie File Types

You want whatever we deliver to work on the device you use to watch the movies.  We want that too!

There are 2 types of digital movie files: containers or streaming.  Computers need containers, and DVD players need streaming.  There are 2 types of containers: the ones that work with Windows computers, and the ones that work with MAC computers.

That's why we ask you in checkout what type of computer you use.  If you are a Windows user, you'll get a MP4 file.  If you're a MAC user, you'll get a QuickTime (mov) file.  If you answer both types of computer, you'll get an MP4 file.  Any other device (like play station or smart TV) can use the MP4 file, and that's what you get if you answer "other".

Your DVD player needs a certain type of streaming file called VOB.  When you ask for a DVD movie disk, we'll take the container file and transcode it into a VOB file, and burn that onto a DVD disk for you.
