Apparently, 10 years post Dave starting this business, the time has come for me to open the closet that is filled with boxes, albums and baggies of family pics.
Many of us have been fortunate enough to capture some of life’s fondest memories over the years through photographs. In fact, it’s been said that over 3.5 trillion photographs have been taken since photography was invented some 186 years ago. That’s a lot of pictures!
It used to be that the best way to store and collect large amounts of photographs without taking up too much space was with photographic slides. But today, you may have trouble finding the proper equipment to view those slides. Even worse, very soon that technology will disappear forever, which is perhaps the most important reason to make the transition from photographic print to photo digitization today.
But there are other reasons to consider our digitize slides services, too. In addition to finding a more modern and lasting way to view and share your photos, you’ll be able to:
- Preserve: Slides are subject to color fading, especially if they’ve been in storage for a long time. Many digitize slides services also offer color restoration services to bring them back to their full hue. Or, you can play with editing services to make something entirely new.
- Organize: You may have dozens of boxes of those old slides. When you digitize them, you can label each one with a name or date, then arrange them in computer files by year so that when you want to find a particular one, you’ll know exactly where to find it.
- Share: Why keep your memories to yourself? Younger generations will love to go through some of your “vintage” photos with you. Digital files allow you to share your photos with multiple people at once; no more tracking down who has which album. You can all enjoy them at the same time.
It’s never been easier, faster, or more affordable to bring new life to old photos with our digitize slides services. Why procrastinate when we do all the work for you? Once it’s done, your friends and family can appreciate those pictures in all of their glory. Best of all, you can sit back and relive your favorite lifetime experiences with the simple click of a mouse — not a slide projector!
If you love to look back on the past with old photographs and slides, you may be accustomed to gathering the family around the projector or photo albums to reminisce. Many families have left this tradition behind in the Instagram age, but don’t let that stop you from digitizing your photos.
The good news is that you don’t have to give that tradition up after you use slide and photo scanning to preserve your images. When you use a digitized photo service, we’ll give you a disk of your images. This allows you to view your images no matter where you go. Of course, we also return your albums to you.
Here are three ways you’ll be able to view and enjoy your images on your own or with the entire family:
- On your computer
If you have a desktop or a laptop computer, you can easily pull up your digital images to view on your screen. Once you copy the images from the disk to your computer’s hard drive, you can rotate, resize, and even print your images directly from the computer. Actually, 41% of parents say they remember events from family photos by posting them on social media, so if you want to connect with family members through Facebook or via email, you can post and send images that way, too.
- On your TV
If you don’t have access to a computer, you can view your images directly on your TV set. You’ll just need to load your DVD disk into your player to see your photographs. This is great way to relive memories during family trips or gatherings, since you won’t have to haul around a slide projector or heavy photo albums. Photo scanning and digitizing makes it simple for the whole family to share fond memories and to learn new things about the family tree.
- As a movie for an event
Did you know we can turn your slides or images into a movie? In addition to our digitized slides services and professional photo scanning and restoration, our digital photo company can turn your cherished images into a movie up to two hours long! This is the perfect idea for graduations, bar and bat mitzvahs, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, and more. We’ll add music, fades, zooms, and 10-second display times to make sure the whole family can enjoy these memories together. You can use a DVD player with a big screen TV or even a large-scale projection screen to make sure everyone can see.
If you’re interested in learning more about how our digital photo services can help restore and preserve your images and memories, please get in touch with us today!
We all love to look back on fond memories with photographs. Whether they’re decades old or taken recently with an app like SnapChat, photographs allow us to relive our past with ease. But if a photo is fading, damaged, or lost, those memories can easily follow fade, too. That’s why it’s so important to make the transition from photographic print to a photo digitizing service.
We can help you preserve both your images and memories by performing both photo restoration and photo digitization. Even if your photos are so old they only exist on slides, our slide to digital services can give your pictures a makeover for the modern age. This ensures your recollections will feel fresh and new forever. But if you’re still unsure about what digital photo services actually do, we’ve put together a few frequently asked questions to help you understand.
- What is digitizing?
Photo digitization is the process wherein a physical photograph is converted to a digital version. Once it’s converted, we can then restore your image. Even better, our custom technology actually scans, restores, and digitizes your photos and slides simultaneously.
- What can be fixed with photo restoration?
We can fix photos that are torn, bent, damaged, faded, smoke damaged, or aged. We can also fix blurry photos or remove backgrounds. Even if photos are badly damaged by sun, water, or mold, we’ll most likely be able to restore them until they look just as good — or even better — than the original images.
- Will the process alter my original photo?
No changes will be made to your original image whatsoever. With photo digitizing services, all restoration is done by computer. Nothing is done directly to your original photo and your albums will be returned to you in the same condition they were brought to us.
- Can you digitize slides?
We sure can. We offer 35mm slide scanning services as well as 5mm slide scanning services. Actually, slides and negatives are often better to work with because the quality is usually sharper than that of a printed photograph.
- How will I access my new digitized photos?
You will be given a digital copy of your photo albums on a DVD. Although making the switch from a physical copy to a digital copy might be a bit of an adjustment, you won’t have to search through a bunch of old boxes to find the photos you’re looking for. If you’re one of the 44% of surveyed parents who say they sometimes have trouble locating photos of their kids, then making the switch to digitized photos will make it so much easier to find that perfect photo. You can also easily travel with your photos or access them from virtually anywhere. It’s a great way to share your memories with family and keep your photos safe.
- How do I protect my other photos from damage?
The best way to preserve your photographs is to use a photo digitizing service. But if you’re not ready to convert all of your photos to digital quite yet, you can prolong the life of your photographs by keeping them in acid-free boxes and envelopes. Keep photos away from sunlight and humidity and do not store them in basements, garages, or attics.
If you’re interested in learning more about our photo restoration and photo digitizing services, please contact us today! We’ll make your images and memories vibrant and like-new again.
Since the first photograph was taken 186 years ago, more than 3.5 trillion photos have been captured. If you enjoyed taking photos with a conventional film camera instead of by digital means, you may have albums full of moments in time that you want to preserve for future generations. That can be difficult, since photos can be damaged due to improper handling or storage. Although these photos can often be revived with help from a photo restoration service, there are ways to can increase the longevity of your treasured family memories. Here are three photo protection tips that will help you keep those photos looking as fresh and new as the day they were taken:
- Store in an optimal location
In order to prevent the need for fade restoration or for restoring photos plagued with damage from water, sun, or mold, you should choose a good place to store them. Although restoring old photos is possible in many cases, sometimes photos become completely ruined when they’re stored in poor conditions. Do not store photo albums in an attic, a basement, or a garage. Although the ample storage these spaces provide can be tempting, it’s not worth the risk of losing your memories because of flood, rodents, or other conditions. It’s best to keep your photos somewhere within the main part of your home, where photos will be protected from damaging elements. Keeping albums on a bookshelf or in an archival photo box under the bed will keep them safe, and keeping them close will encourage you to reflect on fond memories from your past.
- Handle with care
Your hands may feel and look clean, but they do have oils and chemicals that can easily damage a picture or photographic slides. You should always handle this items carefully, holding them by the outer edge. Although it’s completely possible to correct photographic slides or portraits with a photo restoring service, it’s still better to be cautious when touching your photographs.
- Convert to digital
The best way to preserve your photographs and photographic slides is to get them digitized. When you use a digitized photo service, your photos will be converted to a different format (which can be stored on a DVD). This will keep your photos looking brand new forever. This digital format will never change, and will be protected from any and all elements. And because it’s stored digitally, this will free up storage space and will allow you to easily share your memories wherever you go. You’ll never have to worry about handling photos improperly or lugging around heavy albums. Instead, just pull out a DVD and access your memories anywhere.

If you love to document your family memories or look back on previous generations through the use of photographs, you may face the reality of having damaged photos. You might think that these images are lost forever, but the truth is that they can be revived — sometimes better than the original — with the use of professional photo restoration. Whether you have a decades-old portrait that has years of wear and tear, or a newer image that didn’t come out quite to your liking, restoring old photos can be a great way to preserve your past and make your memories seem like they happened just yesterday. Here are three common features that can be easily fixed through photo restoration:
- Rips, tears, and folds
Photographs become increasingly fragile as they age, so whether they were kept in albums, frames, or wallets, it’s common to see older photos with tears or deep folds. Even photos that were completely ripped in two can be fully restored through modern methods like photo digitizing.
- Water and sun damage
If your photos were kept in a humid environment (like a basement) or were exposed to too might light, the result can be large marks that obscure the entire image. Fade restoration is fairly common, but more intensive methods may be required for restoring photos that have retained expansive damage. Whether the marks are a result of water, mold, light, or fire, images can often be fully repaired to their original state.
- Visual enhancements
In addition to damage, photos can be restored and enhanced to fix almost anything; whether you’d like an image to be sharper or your teeth to appear whiter, most types of fixes are possible. Digital photo services allow you to add color to black and white images, add or remove people or backgrounds, or make small adjustments and touch-ups.
If you haven’t taken steps to preserve your photos, you certainly aren’t alone. More than 52% of parents say that they haven’t done anything to protect their photos and videos of their children, and that’s even more common among previous generations. But whether you’re an avid shutterbug or have possession of your grandparents’ photo albums, there are endless possibilities for preservation and restoration of your images. Contact us today to find out about our superior photo restoring services.
For most families, documenting memories — from little moments to big milestones — is a highly valued practice. In fact, nearly one in four Americans say that family photos are among their most treasured and significant pieces of cataloged information, ranked above birth certificates and Social Security cards.
Family photographs allow us to hold on to cherished memories and reflect on how far we’ve come. Unfortunately, film does not last forever, and these memories can often be lost if steps aren’t taken to preserve these important pieces of family history. If you’re wondering why you should opt to digitize photo albums, here are three good reasons why you should make the transition from photographic print to digital:
- Saves space
The majority of families would have trouble fitting all of their photographs in just one photo album. In fact, most of us have several albums ourselves, with still others that have been passed down from previous generations. These bulky albums take up a lot of room, and whether you’re a growing family or are looking to downsize, that room can often be put to better use. Photo digitization allows you to store all of your photographs on formats — like DVDs, an external hard drive, or in an online database — that take up little to no space in your home.
- Easily accessible from anywhere
If you’re visiting extended family, attending a reunion, or are moving to a new place, packing and lugging around heavy photo albums can be a real hindrance. But when you store your photos in an online database or on lightweight DVDs, you can easily look at your digital photos and slides from almost any location. If you have a smartphone, a laptop computer, or access to a DVD player, you’ll be able to relive your memories whenever you want!
- Long-term preservation and restoration
Film and photo slides can easily be destroyed by time, light, and environmental conditions, and when you don’t have a digital copy, those memories can be lost forever. Luckily, you can use a digital photo company like DPS Dave for both preserving and restoring photos. Whether you have recent family portraits or need fade restoration for your grandparent’s treasured vacation slides, making the transition from photographic print to digital copy will help keep those memories alive. Restoring old photos can make them look as good as new, and when you preserve your photos, you can be assured that neither your memories nor your images will ever fade away.
The process of digitizing your photos on your own can be incredibly time-consuming and confusing, but enlisting the help of a photo digitizing service to carry out the transition from photographic print to digital image will allow you to appreciate your pictures for years to come — and will let you have ample time to create new memories with your loved ones.
If you need help digitizing old photos or photographic slides, contact DPS Dave ASAP!
If you survived parenthood and your children are now adults, take this moment to celebrate. You can finally relax. The (minimum) 18 years you just spent caring for those little people probably took so much out of you, that you just want to crawl in bed for another 18 years.
The only problem is that now you miss it. You miss the craziness and chaos. You miss the spills and the messes. You miss the bruises and the crying. You miss having your little children drive you insane.
Now they’re adults, and while you still love them uncontrollably, it’s just not the same because they can reach the top shelf all by themselves now.
Luckily, you probably have hundreds of photos of your kids laying around your house. Just having them in the house doesn’t always suffice. Wholly 44% of parents admit that they often can’t locate photos of their children and about 52% admit that they have not done anything to preserve their children’s photos for the future.
What to do with all those pictures is up to you, but you should know that there are professional photo scanning services available that can store all those memories in a digital photo album. Old photo restoration services can even preserve some of the oldest family photos you have.
Keeping your children’s memories stored digitally forever with professional photo scanning will allow you to create wonderful digital photo albums and give to them as gifts, share with friends and family, and just be able to look back and reminisce on those wonderful times.
Holding on and storing baby photos of your children is extremely important. In fact, about one-fourth of Americans admit that their family photos are more valuable than both Social Security cards and birth certificates, making photos the most valued documents families own. Save every precious moment from your child’s early years: their first birthday party, their first Christmas, the first day of school, or that time they were chased by a butterfly in the backyard, save them all.
Some of the proudest moments a parent can have are during their children’s school accomplishments. You can make an entire digital photo album focusing on their athletic career. From Tee Ball to varsity, documenting their career in sports will be greatly appreciated by your children once you give them the digital photo album. They will surely love looking back on “the good old days.” Graduations and prom nights are also some of the most photo-friendly and important nights of a child’s life.
If your children have reached the age where they are beginning to start families of their own, you’ll want to hold on to pictures of their special day for eternity. Work with professional photo scanning services to take all those beautiful wedding pictures and transfer them onto a digital photo album to be shared and admired for years.
Mother’s Day, her birthday, and maybe one or two other days are the only time of the year when you get something special for your mom. Showing her you care on three days, does that seem like enough?
No! Of course not, she’s your mom. She’s had to deal with you all these long years, which means she’s a saint. Aside from the years of blood, sweat, and tears spent caring for their children, another reason moms are the greatest is because they never really ask for anything in return. It’s up to you to show her how much you care.
You don’t have to get her a trip to Paris or a new car, but just getting her a nice “just because” gift every once in a while will make her happier than you could ever know. Even if it’s something as small as some flowers or a nice card, it’ll at least show that you’ve been thinking about her, and that’ll mean so much to her.
The Ultimate Just Because Gift Idea for Moms Everywhere
If you really want to earn some extra mom love points, you should create a digital photo album for her consisting of her favorite thing in the entire world: you!
Parents, obviously, love their kids, at least the good ones do, and they cherish the photos they took of them when they were little. The only problem is that these photos just get shoved into boxes and thrown in the attic, where they spend years degrading. No one really ever looks at them again unless they’re searching for one specific photo, which is an impossible task.
Out of 250 surveyed parents, 52% said they have not have done anything with their children’s photos or videos in order to preserve them for the future. Roughly 47% haven’t even thought about how they’ll save these photos, and another 44% have trouble locating them or can’t even find the photos at all.
By transforming old photos and photographic slides into a digital photo album for your mom, she’ll be able to see all of her favorite family photos in one safe place. Not only will she finally be able to enjoy these photos anytime she wants, but she’ll be able to share any photo with anyone at anytime.
Digitize and Restore Old Photos and Slides
Even old photos and photographic slides that have been damaged over the years can be digitally stored. Through old photo restoration services, these photographic slides can be scanned and automatically edited into a cleaned up version of the original. Some film slides, like those from her childhood, might be so worn-out and damaged that you can barely even identify what’s in the picture. Having professional scanners work their magic on those photographic slides will clean them up and allow you to show your mom these images for the first time in years.
Again, moms are great because they will still love us no matter what. But we should take the time to truly show our love and support back to them. Give your mom the greatest just because gift whenever you think she deserves it (all the time) and watch that smile light up her face.
Life is full of precious memories that we never want to forget. Although technology can often make us feel overwhelmed, there is no doubt it’s changed our lives for the better in numerous ways, especially over the last few decades. Photography, for instance, has come a long way since the turn of the millennium.
There are so many ways that the advent of all this new photographic technology is great for us, but more than anything, it’s created new ways to share memories. Here are a few benefits of taking advantage of new digital photo technology.
- Fade Restoration — For people who didn’t grow up with camera phones, one of the best things about digital photography is being able to restore our old physical photos and transform them into higher quality digital photos. Physical pictures fade and yellow, but old photo restoration services like fade restoration enable us to safely restore old broken down photos that we’ve had for decades. One day, the hard copy photo will nearly disintegrate, but if we restore these photos, we’ll have them forever in a digital photo album.
- Unlimited Storage, Less Clutter — Rather than keeping hundreds of thousands of photos in boxes piled up in the attic, we can store all these photos in one giant digital photo album. We might not think of it, but all these photos accumulate rapidly over the years and can really clutter our space. With digital photo albums, you free up all that space while storing those precious photos in a safe place.
- Easy Access and Organization — Having a digital photo album with thousands of photos can feel just as overwhelming as having all those boxes in your home. Luckily, it’s extremely easy to organize the photos exactly the way you want them within a digital photo album. Whether it’s old photos of our grandparents when they were young or last summer’s vacation pics, we can easily find these photos in a matter of seconds if they’re organized properly.
- Keep Safe Forever — With physical photos, parents struggle to keep them forever. Out of 250 parents surveyed, 52% of them admit to not having done anything with the photos of their children to preserve them for the future. Nearly half (47%) of these parents haven’t even thought about saving these photos; 44% have trouble even locating these pictures. With digital photo albums, these photos will be saved forever so our children (and their children) will enjoy them in the future.

Brian Lewis has been photographing families and their most precious moments for over 30 years. Since the 1800s, there have been more than 3.5 trillion photos snapped. That number has certainly surged now that every smartphone user always has a camera in their pocket, and even old school photographers using film still use digital tools.
Since Lewis started his photography business in 1985, he began digitally storing every single photo. He currently has every photo he has ever taken safely stored away in numerous locations. Now, digital photo services like DPS Dave are helping professional and amateur photographers alike safely digitize photo albums.
According to Shreveport Times, Lewis has remained diligent over the last 30 years, digitally backing up each photo and having thousands upon thousands of physical copies safely secured in climate-controlled warehouses.
American families place so much importance on their photos, with 24% of U.S. families ranking family photos as their most valuable documented pieces of information, even higher than Social Security cards and birth certificates.
Lewis stated that with all the recent advances in technology, there are plenty of digital storage options available, but it’s important to have black-up plans for your back-up plans.
“People take a lot more photographs now than 20 years ago,” Lewis added. “With cameras on our phone, we have instant access to record all the things we want to relive later which makes properly storing your photographs more complicated than simply putting them in an album like years past.”
He suggests that the two most important factors regarding keeping your photos safe and secure is to have a few safe places that are easily accessible. Also, to have a detailed and organized system so you’ll be able to quickly find a photo from any point in your life.
Sadly, only 13% of young people ages 18 to 24 years old own or have ever owned an actual photo album, and it looks like the overwhelming majority of pictures are being taken with cell phones. Today, digital photo services and storage are more important than ever before.
Digital photo services, like old photo restoration services, are great for people who are serious about saving and restoring their old hardcopies of photos. DPS Dave has developed technology that allows us to instantly scan, retouch, and digitize photo albums and slides from decades past. To get started, or if you want to learn more about digital photo services, contact DPS Dave today.
Over the last few years, nearly everything has gone digital. Libraries have gone digital. Shopping is done digitally. Even dating is now predominantly done online. Yet, with all this new technology existing in the world today, many people are still taking physical photos and storing them in their attic or basement.
Since the advent of photography — more than 186 years ago — approximately 3.5 trillion photos have been taken. With the technology our kids have readily available to them now, it seems like each teenager plans on taking about that many Instagram photos. But what about the photos that you took years ago? This digital technology didn’t exist back then, so how can those photos be stored together with your more recent, digital collection?
With digital photo services like scan slides services, you can take any hardcopy of a photo you have and digitally recreate it to store forever in an online photo album. About 3,000 people were asked about their physical photos and approximately 10% believe their photos to be “gone in 60 seconds.”
But with scan slides services, a scanned photograph can exist in the digital realm for eternity.
Scanning your photographs is easy and can even clear up space in your home. Rather than keeping heavy boxes in your attic, basement, or spare room, utilize scan slides services to transform all those photos into a digital album. Then, if you wish, you can get rid of all your physical copies.
You don’t have to, though, if you would rather keep the physical copies just in case. You never know when Skynet might appear and get its hands on our photos… but for now, it seems like they will be safe in the online world.
In 2011, more than 31 million rolls of physical film were sold for singe-use disposable cameras. Why take photos with these cameras when you can take them with a phone and immediately store them in an online photo album?
It’s hard to tell people to make the switch from physical hard copies to digital photos. Once they do, they rarely regret it. Having a single physical photo in your home can be great if you need some inspiration or want to reflect on a single memory. But having the ability to share that photo with billions of people around the world anytime you want is revolutionary.
Approximately 24% of Americans rank family photos as their number one piece of documented information. Higher than Social Security cards, birth certificates, and anything else a family can own — photos are the most important.
However, the only problem with these photos is that they are too difficult to access. Not all of them, as they are probably all stored in a few boxes in the attic, but individual ones are nearly impossible to find. Unless you know ahead of time when, where, and what photos you will need, the only way to find photos you want to look at, mail to someone, or show someone else is to dig through what’s in your attic or basement.
Luckily there is something that can be done:
Digitized photo services
Digitized photo services enable us to save all our photos forever in a secure online photo album. This technology is so advanced, that just about any photo you have taken or plan on taking can be preserved in an online database. It’s very simple, too. Here are a few reasons why you should take advantage of digitized photo services:
- Preserve Old Photos — This technology enables us to save even the oldest of photos in an online photo album. It doesn’t matter what condition these photos are in, old photo restoration services can help preserve them forever.
- Save All the Funny Photos of Your Kids — Children are the best subjects of any photo. From the time they are newborns until they are walking the stage at graduation or down the isle at their wedding, you were probably right there taking pictures. These are some of the best memories of their life and yours — cherish them forever.
Sadly, 44% of parents admit that they often have trouble locating photos of their children’s lives, and 52% of parents say that they have not done anything to preserve these photos for the future. If that’s the case, your grandchildren won’t be able to see wedding photos of their parents. Pass your family memories down through photos to the next generation with digital photo albums.
- Share With Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere — Possessing a physical photo is great, but what about when you want to show it to someone else? You’d have to go make a copy and then mail it. With a digital photo album, all of your photos can be stored there — in as many subcategories as you want — and you can share them instantaneously with anyone in the world at any time.
If you have any questions, feel free to share in the comments.
Your children have provided you with countless moments of laughter, tears, joy, and pretty much every other emotion someone can experience. There really is nothing like raising children. Watching them grow up into (somewhat) responsible adults gives the parents a satisfying feeling of pride and accomplishment unlike anything else.
It’s important to capture the big moments of your children’s lives as they grow so you can one day share these memories with them and possibly their children. Luckily, digital photo services make this possible. Even the old photos you have lying around the house can be digitally stored using old photo restoration services. Scanning your photographs of your children’s milestones into a digital photo album can be a great project for any loving parent.
In a survey of 250 parents, 52% of them admit to doing nothing to preserve the tons of photos and videos of their children for the future. Approximately 47% of parents have not even thought about what they’re going to do with their children’s photographic memories. That’s why scanning your photographs is so important. You and your entire family can relive these moments over and over again by looking through a digital photo album.
There have been more than 3.5 trillion photos that have been taken since the advent of photography, and there is a pretty good chance that a large percentage of that number is family milestones. Here are some of life’s most photogenic moments:
- Wedding — Although there will be professional photographers at your children’s weddings, having your own personal collection of one of the happiest days of their lives is well worth it.
- Graduation — Nothing can make a parent prouder. Whether it’s graduating from kindergarten, high school, or college, these are important milestones that should be cherished forever.
- First Day of School — It’s difficult to find a cuter photo than a child’s first day of school. With their big smile on their face and their giant colorful backpack, this is the happiest they will feel about school for nearly two decades.
- Passed Road Test — It could take a few times, but once they passed their road test, the monumentous occasion makes for a great photo. It might be a photo of them holding their license or a shot of the terrified look on your face after realizing that they can drive now.
- Prom — Second only to your child’s wedding day, prom is a huge moment in a parent’s life. It’s a pretty big moment for the children, too. Realistically, anytime they are wearing a nice dress or fancy suit should require photographic evidence.
- Birthday Milestones — The big ones are essential: one, five, 10, 16, 18, etc. But pretty much any moment from any birthday can be a great photographic moment. There is always the potential for cake to be smeared all over their face — make sure to snap a pic.
- First Day of Work — This might embarrass them, but you just can’t help it. Whether they’re taking your order at a restaurant for the first time, cashing someone out at a grocery store, or doing any other sort of work for the first time, realize it’s a huge moment in their lives and take a photo.
- Family Vacations — Some of the most fun times for a family happen while vacationing. Document everythingwith photos.
- Engagement — It might be difficult to make this happen, but if you can, it’s a wonderful moment to capture.
- Newborns (Yours and Theirs) — Scanning your photographs of your children when they were babies and keeping them in a digital album with your newborn grandchildren makes for a great and adorable digital photo album.
- First Car — Document their excitement as they sit in their first car for the first time.
- Any Embarrassing Mishaps — Because you might need to hold embarrassing moments over their heads somewhere down the road. Scanning your photographs of your kids doing funny, strange, and embarrassing things can provide great laughs for the entire family.
If you have any questions, feel free to share in the comments.
Taking pictures is a wonderful way of expressing yourself, sharing wonderful memories of your life, and capturing moments that no one else would be able to see. More than 3.5 trillion of these photos have been snapped over the 186-year history and someone would need one large attic to store them all.
Having physical copies of these photos can be great: you can keep them in a wallet or a purse, cut them up and make nice collages, and mail copies of them to loved ones around the world. However, you’re pretty limited with how often you want to share your photos.
Digital Photo Services
Technology allows us to use photos in more ways than ever before. Technological advancements have certainly changed the industry. Now, there are even ways to digitally store old physical photos.
There are many benefits of using digital photo services to store your physical copies online.
Organize in a Digital Photo Album
Sadly, only 13% of young adults have ever owned a single photo album.
If you want to make a great gift for your son, daughter, niece, or nephew, take all the printed out photos of graduations, sporting events, childhood memories, proms, and other important memories, and put them in a digital photo album. They’ll love the convenience of being able to show off their photographic history at any moment.
Easily Accessible from Anywhere

One of the most iconic photographs of the 3.5 trillion that have been taken in its 186-year history, Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima, is… involved in an investigation with the Marines?
NBC News reports that the photo, taken by Associated Press photographer and Pulitzer Prize winner Joe Rosenthal, might have misidentified one of the soldiers involved in the February 23, 1945 raising of the American flag.
“Rosenthal’s photo captured a single moment in the 36-day battle during which more than 6,500 U.S. servicemen made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation,” the U.S. Marines said in a statement. “We are humbled by the service and sacrifice of all who fought on Iwo Jima.”
The USMC went on record that they are “examining information provided by a private organization.”
After the photo was snapped during World War II, President Franklin D. Roosevelt ordered the Marines to find out the names of the six soldiers in the picture.
John Bradley, a Navy corpsman, was one of the men identified, but according to two historians, Eric Krelle and Stephen Foley, Bradley was not actually in the photo.
Bradley died in 1994 and when the Associated Press approached his son with these claims, his response: “this is unbelievable.”
It’s too difficult to tell if anything will come of this investigation, but one thing is well-known: we now have the technology to make these kinds of history-changing claims, and we can actually back it up with evidence.
There are plenty of digital photo services out there that are changing not only the ways we take new photos, but also the ways we look at old ones.
Old photo restoration services can take even the oldest, most damaged photo in the world, and turn it into a newer version of itself.
The benefits of digital photo services not only affect the photography industry, but have historical and personal benefits as well.
Nearly one in four U.S. citizens rate family photos as their most important and valuable documents. Beating out birth certificates, Social Security cards, and everything else. The ability to preserve these prized possessions and store them digitally is great for entire families.
Digital photo services literally have the power to change history, but if you just want to keep an online photo album, that’s fine too.
Today, the selfie is everywhere. With the rise of mobile technology, it is hard to be without a camera. Photos are used to document little aspects of everyday life, but they were not always invented for this reason. Read on below to learn more about the history and development of the photograph.
Photography came to be when the inventor Thomas Wedgewood decided to combine the ideas that images can be visibly altered when exposed to light in 1800. Though he wasn’t successful, Frenchman Louis Daguerre invented the daguerreotype process 20 years later. This was the first photographic process which only required a few minutes of light exposure. His photos had clean, crisply detailed results, a first the world had ever seen. Since then, more than three and a half trillion photos have been taken.
Several technological inventions were developed in the following 100 years. Methods for printing negatives on glass, silver, and paper treated with harsh chemicals were all implemented, but they made it hard for an everyday person to use. Eventually, the need for light exposure decreased from minutes to just a couple of seconds.
The photographic process was finally refined and improved with the emergence of George Eastman of Rochester, New York. Eastman developed a way of printing dry gel onto paper, so photographers would not have to carry bulky photographic plates and chemicals with them. Known now as photographic film, this revolutionized photography as we know it.
Eastman went on to start Eastman Kodak, a photographic business specializing in easy to use cameras and film. They released their first camera with the slogan ‘you press the button, we do the rest’, allowing anyone the ability to take a picture leaving the complex developing to the professionals. The first mass produced camera, the Kodak Brownie went on the market in 1901.
For the past 115 years, cameras have given anyone the ability to capture everyday moments. These precious photos have been labeled by 24% of American families as their most important possessions. But how does one go about saving their snapshots for future use? Easy — photo restoration.

The photos that you take are some of the most precious items you own. They represent some of the most important and happiest times of your life. It’s a shame to just leave all those wonderful photos in dirty boxes in the attic. All those memories stuffed away only to be forgotten about or lost.
Luckily, we live in a time where new technology can help us out. Digital photography is gaining popularity and certainly isn’t for everyone. But there are ways to digitally restore some old physical photographs and keep them safe in one online photo album.
These digital photo albums are able to be accessed from anywhere in the world, at any time, and by anyone with access. Here are three times when photo restoration can be great:
Weddings are some of the happiest times in a family’s life. It’s important to document every aspect and every minute of those magical days. Restoring old photos that were already taken at weddings throughout your lifetime can be great for building family trees and just documenting important family events in general. Entire families get together and celebrate for hours at weddings. Making sure these memories can be shared with everyone can also make sure that those memories last forever.
Another one of the best best times for family fun — vacations. Children grow up, people move away, and things can always change. You never truly know when a vacation could be the last time you and your whole family get to do something like that. It’s important to make sure that you save those memories forever. Being able to quickly bring up the family trip to Disney Land and share with your loved ones at any time is amazing.
Weddings are fun and vacations are a blast, but the most important event in a lifetime is the birth of a newborn child. Whether you are a part of a large family with new nieces and nephews being born each month, or a small family with only one or two children who are now adults, holding on to all those adorable baby photos is extremely important. About 44% of parents admit that they can’t find photos and videos of their children sometimes and about 52% admit that they haven’t done anything to preserve those photos for the future. You’re going to want to relive those precious memories over and over again. Keep them safe forever.
There have been more than 3.5 trillion photos that have been taken since the first photograph, and old photo restoration services can help preserve each one. Keep your memories safe forever.

Photographs are some of the most preciousness items that families have. These photos are memories that document our lives, our children’s lives, and the life and history of our families.
If you let these photos pile up in the attic, you may never see them again. It feels like they are readily available because they are only a few feet away from you at all times, but just try to find that photo of the family reunion you had in 1988. Once you open that box (or boxes) full of old photos, you will realize how difficult it is to find anything.
Just looking for photos of your children can be difficult. About 44% of parents admit that they have trouble finding photos and videos of their children when they were younger. People would love to share funny and adorable videos of their kids once they’re adults, but the amount of photos adds up over the years. In of a survey of 250 parents, about 52% of them said they have not done anything to preserve these photos for the future and 47% admit that they haven’t even thought about it.
With all the new technology out in the world today there are easy ways to store all of these important photos forever. Digitally storing your photos is easier than ever before. There are many benefits of digitally storing your photos:
- Keep them forever — One of the greatest reasons to use digital photo services is that these photos can be stored forever. No matter what happens to you, your home, or your electronic devices; these photos will be kept safe in the digital world.

- Photo restoration — There are old photo restoration services that can help preserve even the oldest of photos. Fade restoration services can even restore photos that are over 100 years old where you can barely even see what’s in the picture, making them look good as new.
- Organize however you want — There are so many options. If you prefer, you can have every single photo stored in one digital photo album. Or you can have hundreds of different albums and organize your photos a little more for easy access.
Holding on to these photographic memories are vital for families. Utilizing digital photo services like photo restoration can help secure all your family memories for future generations to enjoy.
May’s version of Christmas is just around the corner — Mother’s Day, that is. It’s the most important day of the year to show the most important woman in the world how much you care. There are plenty of nice things you could do for her: a nice dinner, day at the spa, give her cash. But we all know she would like something that comes from the heart much more.
Creating a digital photo album of your family and giving it to her for Mother’s Day might end up being the best thing you could’ve done. Think about it; there are all those photos piled high in the attic that she loves going through, but there’s just too many photos. All those photos that have been accumulating for years and years can certainly be overwhelming to go through.
Do her a favor and go through them yourself or with the rest of the family, and give her the best Mother’s Day gift ever.
Mothers would love to cherish those wonderful family photos forever, but it’s too difficult to organize them all by hand. That’s why doing it digitally can be a great solution.
About 44% of parents who participated in a survey admitted that they have trouble finding photos of their children and nearly half of these parents — about 47% — said that they have not thought about how they will preserve these photos for the future.
These photos are some of the most important objects inside a home. About 24% of Americans rate family photos higher than Social Security cards and birth certificates as their most important documented pieces of information.
How to go about creating these digital family photo albums may seem like the hard part, but it’s not. There are professional companies that offer slide scanning services to store all your family photos digitally.

Just about 25% of Americans rate their family photos as being the most valuable documents that they own. Even more than Social Security cards and birth certificates, families cherish photos more than anything.
You wouldn’t keep your family’s Social Security cards in dirty boxes stuffed in the attic, right? So why do it with all your family photos?
Photo digitization is a new way to save your family photos on the computer. They can be stored forever and accessed from anywhere, even across the world, on any device.
There have been more than 3.5 trillion photos taken since the beginning of photography; imagine if all of those photos have been stored digitally to be preserved forever. We would have photographic evidence of all kinds of historical events and family memories.
Even if you have a few old photos from your childhood that are in pretty rough condition, photo digitization enables you to save them forever. With old photo restoration services, you’ll be able to share photographic memories from your childhood with future generations who you may never even meet. Your family history can be documented more than ever before.
Not being able to share some of these precious memories with your family is extremely sad and unfortunate. You had the intention to save these photos forever when you took them, but all these photos add up over the years, and it gets a little overwhelming.
In a survey of 250 parents, about 52% of them admit that they have not done anything with the thousands of photos they have of their children and family to preserve the photos for the future. Digital photo services are a great way to store these photos for years so you can show your adult children just how adorable they were when they were young children.
Even posting photos on social media, although great to share with loved ones, isn’t the best way to stay organized. About 41% of parents say that they remember what happened in a family photo by posting it on social media, but they will be difficult to access when they want to get a specific photo in the future. Photo digitization can prevent that problem.
Keeping these photos and memories safe for the future can be great for your entire family. With a digital photo album, you’ll be able to store every single photo you’ve ever taken in one simple place. You’ll also be able to share them with all your loved ones at anytime from anywhere in the whole world.
What can be more precious than your family photos? The photos that you and your family accumulate over the years tell a story, your story, with all the great memories captured to look back on. Making sure these photos are always available is very important.
Since the first photograph was taken 186 years ago, more than 3.5 trillion photos have been taken. In 2014, alone, about 880 billion photos were snapped, according to Yahoo! There are trillions of photographs out there that all tell a story, and these photos can, and should be, stored safely forever.
Digitize slides services enable you to preserve all your photographs and store them in a digital photo album. These photo albums can be digitally accessed, anywhere in the world. Your daughter just went on a trip to Europe? She can take a photo on her cell phone and instantly upload it to a digital photo album that you’ll be able to access from across the Atlantic Ocean.
The print photographs that you already have piling up in your house can be just as easily digitized with slide scanning. It’s so important to be able to save these memories of your family forever. Sadly, in a survey done involving 250 parents, more than half of them said that they have not done anything to preserve the photos and videos of their children. Showing your children pictures like when you went on family vacations when they were very little can warm your heart and theirs; you’ll regret it if these photos just vanish over time.
Digitize slide services can restore old photos, too. Fade restoration can be applied to even the oldest of photos. This can really be a great way to save your entire family’s history in one digital photo collection. Imagine being able to share pictures from your childhood with your grandchildren, and their grandchildren after that. The history of your family can be preserved forever by using a digitize slide service for your family photos.
So many photos being taken over the years can pile up. It happens to everyone. Not doing anything about those stacks of photos, however, will make you miss out on a chance to share and store your most precious memories. Transforming your family memories into one digital photo collection with digitize slides services can be enjoyable for every future generation of your family.
Photographs are some of the most valuable items we possess. There have been 3.5 trillion photos since the technology was invented. Over time, these photos can add up.
Living a long and happy life with many loved ones results in a lot of photographs over the years. Photographs of you from your childhood, wedding pictures, family photos, graduations and parties you’ve attended, and any other life event where photos were taken — all these photos can start to stack pretty high.
With all the new technology around today, photos aren’t going anywhere. They’re actually becoming more secure. Digital photo services allow you to take old photo albums and pictures that you have laying around your house or tucked away in the attic, and turn them into one, easy-to-use, convenient digital photo album.
About 44% of parents admit that they have trouble finding photos when they need them, and 47% of parents say that they have not thought about the future of their photos, and how they will share them with their children. Digital photo services like image scanning services can help you store your family photos forever.
Even the oldest of photos can be digitized. Photo restoration is not limited to brand new photos; restoring old photos can be done as well. There are professionals that can work with very old photos and focus on fade restoration, making photos from back in the day look good as new.
Being able to show your children their history when they’re older is something that everyone should experience. More than half of parents say that they have not done anything with the photos they have collected in order to preserve them for the future.
These photos act as memories for people and are evidence of some of the happiest times of a person’s life. About one in four Americans rate family photos as being their most valuable documented piece of information. Keeping a secure digital photo album will give you the piece of mind of having your memories stored in a safe place, that you can access anytime you want.
Being able to share memories with friends and loved ones truly is a blessing. Digital photo services can help you keep them all for a lifetime and more.
It has been more than 186 years since the very first photograph was taken. During that time, people have taken more than 3.5 trillion photographs. These pictures share our stories. They are a collection of the greatest memories taken at the best times of our lives. They are physical celebrations and ways to remember our loved ones who are no longer with us.
Photos capture beautiful weddings, adorable newborns, proud graduation moments, and anything else you can imagine that deserves to be photographed and stored forever. Forever storing these photos, however, can be troublesome.
About 25% of Americans rated family photos as their most valuable documented pieces of information. It’s important for families to be able to store these photos so that they can last a lifetime.
Accumulating thousands of photos over the years is great, but at a certain point, they become too much to handle. They just get thrown into buckets and crates and left there until they are stumbled upon. Just under 50% of parents say that they have trouble locating photos and videos of their children.
Today, digitize slides services make it possible to store your family memories and photographs forever by transforming them into a digital photo album. Preserving photos for the future is important for every family. Even photos that have been around for 100 years can be stored digitally. With these digitize slides services, old photo restoration services are available, too.
Having the thousands of photos you having laying around your house transformed into digital albums that can be copied and shared with your loved ones is a valuable treasure. Imagine being able to show your great-grandchildren clear photos of you when you were a child. The ability to show off physical evidence of your family history over generations can not be understated.
You don’t have to just have one giant digital photo album. If you really do have thousands of photos in your attic or basement, you can have them put into many different albums through digitize slides services.
Enjoy these digital photos from the comfort of your own home, or across the world on any device. Keep your family’s most amazing memories stored forever.
A whopping 3.5 trillion photos have been taken since the invention of the photograph 186 years ago. And it’s no wonder why — preserving memories and beautiful moments is one of the most amazing parts of being a human today. Sentimental and family photographs are so near and dear to our collective hearts, in fact, that nearly 24% of Americans said that family photos rated as their most valuable documented piece of information, beating out even Social Security cards and birth certificates.
For such valuable family heirlooms — things that will eventually become important heritage documentation — people do surprisingly little to preserve them and make them easier for their children to care for. Out of a survey of 250 parents, more than half said that they have not done anything with the photos or videos they had of their children in order to preserve them for the future.
Take precautions against the chance of losing — or losing track of — your family photographs, and check out these great ideas for restoring old photos and maintaining them forever:
1. Make Copies
If you still have the negatives from your film photos, use the opportunity to get second prints of them. This way, you can replace aged and faded photos with new copies, and even keep a second photo album in a different location. Consider keeping some of your most important photos in a safety deposit box with other important documents. Looking into a slide scan service is also a great idea — slides are hardier than negatives and can be used to view or reproduce your photos at any time.
2. Digitize Them
It’s time to get the photo album up to speed in this digital age. There are many services that offer old photo restoration and old photo digitization, and will compile some of your oldest memories online, to be easily shared and preserved forever. Restoring old photos before they are digitized can be very helpful Hold onto your hard copies, but rest easy that your pictures are safe on the Web.
3. Give Them As Gifts
This is a great way to preserve your photos — by passing them down. Give you children or grandchildren the gift of your memories in photo form by compiling a special album just for them and telling them stories from times past. It’s a great way to spend some quality family time and to strengthen the family bond.
Whether it’s the use of a slide scan service or the advice of a digitized photo service, restoring old photos is a great way to revisit the past by preparing for the future!
One day, your children or grandchildren will be interested in learning more about where they came from — and who their family really is. Will you be able to show them photographs of their past when they come to you?
People are often fascinated by the faces, clothes, vacations, and homes that defined the past. What many people don’t realize, though, is that old photographs and slides don’t necessarily last forever. Many people have witnessed the effects of aging on their old photographs — the yellowing, and the sometimes grainy changes.
As time passes it can also become more difficult to view the images of the past. How many people today still use a slide projector when guests come over? With friends and family so spread out, it’s a lot easier to reminisce through posting photos online. Without digital copies of your images, though, all they end up doing is sitting in a box, collecting dust.
Slide scanning services, which convert slides to digital images, are worth checking out for this reason. Once images are made digital, they can be preserved virtually forever — no yellowing, fading, or getting lost in that one box that went to Goodwill. And you can print off as many copies as you need, when you need them.
When surveyed, about 52% of parents stated that they hadn’t done anything to preserve the videos and images of their children for the future. Kids grow up fast, though, and it only happens once. Then, it’s over forever. If you don’t preserve these memories, you might find that 30 years down the line, there’s just nothing left you can look at.
If you decide to opt for a digitize slides service, you might be surprised by how affordable it is per image. Years ago, when the technology was new, it may have been out of the price range of many people — and had questionable results. Today, though, it’s not expensive and the quality is high.
In a recent survey, 60% of people felt that their photos were “gone” in 60 seconds. Don’t allow your photos to fade into the past. Invest in digitize slides services so that your memories are around for future generations.
Old photos have stories to tell — and often, they’re important ones. This past year, Darcy Eveleigh, a photo editor for The New York Times, journeyed into the publication’s photo archives. On her list of people to search for was Martin Luther King Jr., as part of a Black History Month Project. Among her finds was a portrait of King that had been used over and over throughout the years. She then discovered that the portrait was, in fact, not a portrait, but actually a crop-out of a television roundtable discussion King had been a part of.
This photo and others became part of Unpublished Black History — a way for The New York Times to tell stories that hadn’t come to light before through the power of old, previously unpublished photographs. Another unpublished image was of Lena Horne; the caption on the unpublished photo was a forgotten story in itself, detailing how famous singer Harry Belafonte had trouble finding an apartment.
“He, like Ms. Horne, had been turned away by brokers and landlords who refused to rent to African-Americans. Outraged, he bought the entire building and invited his friends to join him there. Ms. Horne got the penthouse,” read the photo. Considering the size of the archive (millions of print photos, and millions of negatives), this archive project will be ongoing, with many more stories waiting to unfold.
Your personal history matters, and every photograph you save is a story for you and for future generations to remember. While over 3.5 trillion photographs have been taken since the camera was invented, many if not most of these photos — and their stories — are now lost to time. Luckily, photo restoring services can help save any photos you have. Photo restoring services can correct fading, dust damage and more.
Over 52% of parents say they haven’t yet done anything to preserve the pictures they have of their children. How can you make sure your photo stories are not forgotten? One important step is keeping track of the stories accompanying each photo. Don’t assume that, 10 years later, you’ll remember that this photo was taken at the 2010 family reunion. Even just jotting down a few notes on the back of each photo can help jog your memory later.
Another important step is investing in picture scanning services. Per photo, these services are often quite affordable — and they can ensure that your photos live on, even if you happen to lose the physical copy you have. Slide scanning services also exist, for those whose photos are currently in slides.
About 25% of Americans say that family photos are their most important documents. Thanks to photo restoring services and digitized photo services, your photos can stay fresh and alive alongside your memories for many years to come.
Many people believe digital photos don’t have the same personal and sentimental value. Years ago, you had to make sure you found the perfect angle and had the perfect lighting before clicking that shutter button, because you had to make the most of that roll of film. And if you didn’t get the best picture possible… Well, you’d find that out after you filled the roll and had your pictures developed.
If your photos didn’t turn out perfectly when they came back from the drug store, you might have been disappointed. Looking back at your photo albums now, and comparing them to the “photoshopped” pictures that kids today take on their cellphones and computers, all of the imperfections on your own photos somehow make them more personal. Around 10% of young adults today admit that the majority of their photos are “gone in 60 seconds,” meaning that most photos are deleted and taken again… and again… and again… until the perfect picture appears on the digital screen.
If you’re like one in four American families today, your photographs are your most prized possessions, even more so than your birth certificate or Social Security number. They’re one of a kind. They’re your memories laid out in front of you, and they wouldn’t be real if they were completely perfect.
So why even bother with photo restoring services?
Despite the popularity of digital photography, at least half of all Americans believe that digital photos can’t — and won’t — replace real prints. Restoring old photos is important, because your kids, your grandkids, and your great-grandkids for years to come will be looking at your photo albums. Preserving your memories is important and it doesn’t have to take away any of the sentimental value of old photos.
Photo restoration involves many different aspects: it addresses discoloration, small damaged segments (like coffee cup stains or scratch marks) which were incurred after the photo was taken, and even fold marks or tears. You have the ability to choose which aspects you’ll address with a photo restoration expert; you don’t have to change everything about your pictures to make them “perfect” when you’re restoring photos.
Your pictures, and all of their imperfections, are unique and should be preserved that way. All you have to do is find a great photo restoration service that understands!
Did you know that since the first photograph was taken 186 years ago, there have been nearly 3.5 trillion more taken? We are constantly using photography to capture moments that are important to us, things like weddings, birthdays, concerts, and more. What’s strange, though, is that many aren’t doing what they need to to ensure those photos stay safe.
Fortunately, photo services can help. Here’s what you should know.
Many people are still holding onto photographs in dated formats, such as slides.
The problem with this is that soon, the technology will be obsolete. Nobody will have or be able to find the right equipment to view the slides. Rather than let that happen and try to reformat those photos after the fact, you can use a slide to digital service to preserve them.
About one in four of poll participants said that their family photos are the most important documents to them, beating out Social Security Cards and birth certificates. Yet, many people don’t have a way to organize the thousands upon thousands of pictures they take each year. Many more aren’t even taking the appropriate steps needed to back up their data. Consequently, people can lose photographs of cherished memories easily. Photo services can help you organize all of the photos in your library to make it easier to not only find what you’re looking for, but hold on to it, too.
Passing Photos Down
About 52% of 250 surveyed parents said that they had not done anything with their photos and videos of their kids in order to pass them down. This could create a generation of kids who don’t have access to their childhood photos, and won’t have anything to pass down. One of the best things you can do with your photos is to make sure that they’re organized and backed up in digital albums. You should also consider investing in old photo restoration services, such as fade restoration, for older pictures of grandparents and earlier family members.
Are you considering any photo services? Which ones do you think you need the most?
According to Yahoo! estimates, more than 880 billion photos were taken in 2014 alone. Since the very first photo — shot 186 years ago — more than 3.5 trillion have been taken overall. These photos depict family members that may no longer be with us, places that exist only in our memories and in a few select photos, and moments that we never really get back. In fact about one in four people say that their family pictures are more important to them that even their birth certificate or Social Security card.
However, many don’t take care of their valuable photos the way they should, which means that they could fade, get lost, or worse. Luckily, there are photo services that can help. Here are just a few ways they can help keep photos safe.
Old Photo Restoration
Have you every looked at photos of your grandparents or great-grandparents and noticed the photo starting to fade or warp? Photo professionals can help with restoring photos, as well as work specifically on fade restoration.
Photographic Slides to Digital
If you have photographic slides sitting around that you’re not sure what to do with, take them into a reputable photo company. They can convert those slides into a digital format, which makes sharing and organizing them as easy as possible. Additionally, many lack the equipment to properly display slides, because it simply isn’t popular anymore. Bringing them into the digital world means you won’t have to worry about that!
If you have childhood photographs that have never been digitized, this could be the service for you. Once a photo’s been scanned and digitized, the person doing the service can send it to you in any format that would be easy for you to keep a hold of it. This means not only that your pictures will be backed up, but also, you’ll be able to organize them. In addition, you’ll be able to share them with friends and family in high quality.
Are you looking into any of these services? Have you already had your photos done? We would love to hear about the experience!
